Russ Dean - Bass Guitar

Born, raised and lived most of his life in Southern California, Russ was stuck with the bass guitar when as a teenager his two best friend picked up the drums and electric guitar before he had a chance to decide. At that age he was very much into bands like Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult & Rush (whose bass player Geddy Lee taught him how to play by ear). In High School he was in his first band that started off playing in a Cave and were called World 32. Mostly an original band that played a style that is hard to describe but was at times symphonic and up-tempo/punk-metal and definitly rocked. After about 7 years that band fell apart and he joined another original band called Oliver which soon changed its name to Chautauqua and was for a long time a 3 piece power trio that someone once said sounded like a modern day Cream (all 3 players sang) but it too eventually broke up. After this Russ spent the next decade helping raise his daughter (didnt want to be away from her most nights playing music) but once she became a teenager he decided to go for it again because music was always in his heart. Spent a few years playing with some different folks and settled into a cover band called the Cliffhangers before finally deciding to move to Nashville and look for an original band there. After a few months he found Sugar Lime Blue through an ad on Craigslist and when he met them he knew that this was it. Another band whose music was hard to define and a love for the Jam Band scene (& the Grateful Dead) that he was looking to get involved in. Good people and good music, family and friends - life couldn't get any better!

Gear: Fender and Rickenbacker basses,
